Manipulation (mechanical-dial gun safes)
For older Liberty, AMSEC, Browning, Cannon, and Mosler gun safes with Group-2 mechanical dials. Quiet, non-destructive, preserves the combination.
Safe Opening · Las Vegas Valley
Gun safe opening is one of our most common Vegas Valley jobs. Households across Spring Valley, Summerlin, Henderson, Sunrise Manor, and North Las Vegas own gun safes from Liberty, AMSEC, Browning, Cannon, SentrySafe, Hollon, and Fort Knox — and the most common call we get is "my gun safe won't open." About 60% of these calls are solved by a fresh battery. The other 40% need a licensed locksmith. We open gun safes non-destructively in most cases, preserving the safe, the contents, and (often) the original combination. This page covers methodology, brands serviced, what to try before calling, cost, and what to expect on-site.
Every gun safe opening job at Armor Lock & Safe follows a methodology hierarchy — non-destructive techniques first, drilling only as a last resort with written owner authorization. About 85% of our Vegas-area safe-opening work completes without drilling.
For older Liberty, AMSEC, Browning, Cannon, and Mosler gun safes with Group-2 mechanical dials. Quiet, non-destructive, preserves the combination.
For SecuRam, S&G 6120, AMSEC ESL10 keypads that have failed. Like-for-like replacement preserving the original mechanical fallback.
Boroscope through manufacturer access point — works well on modern Liberty and AMSEC gun safes.
Most small home gun safes have a key override path. If the key is lost, we manipulate the cylinder or replace.
Last resort with owner authorization. Manufacturer schematics, repair-and-restore protocol.
Owner-trained on every major US safe brand and lock platform. Tell us the make and model on the phone — manufacturer schematic lookup cuts our on-site time by ~30%.
A gun safe call starts with the customer trying a fresh 9V lithium battery (use lithium in Vegas summer — alkaline dies fast above 110°F). If that fails, we dispatch in 20–35 minutes from Spring Valley. On arrival the technician verifies the customer's ID and the safe's address-based ownership. For electronic-keypad gun safes, the technician first checks the wiring harness between the keypad and the lock body (a surprising number of "dead keypad" calls are loose wires). For mechanical-dial gun safes, manipulation begins immediately. Most gun safes open in 30–90 minutes; some Liberty Centurions with drifted wheel packs run longer. Once the safe opens, we inventory the firearms with the owner present (firearm chain-of-custody matters legally — we do not handle firearms ourselves), program a new combination if needed, and document the work.
Las Vegas locksmith pricing is too often "quoted on the phone, then changed on the truck." We give a flat-rate quote in writing before any work begins. Below is our standard pricing for this service.

Factors that change the time on-site:
Things we wish every Vegas safe owner knew. Following these saves you time, money, and avoids damage to your safe.
Replace the 9V battery FIRST. Use lithium, not alkaline, in Vegas. Wait 10 seconds before re-entering the code.
Check for a wrong-code lockout penalty (most safes lock out 5 minutes after 3+ wrong attempts).
Look up the manufacturer manual online before calling — many brands have YouTube reset videos for their popular models.
On Liberty Monster Mech handles, the handle has a hex screw at its base. If the handle is loose, tighten the screw before assuming the lock failed.
Firearms NEVER ride in our truck. Customer keeps custody at all times; we open, you handle.
Gun safe opening requires verified ownership documentation. We do not handle, transport, or take possession of firearms — Nevada and federal firearm transfer rules apply. The owner retains custody throughout the job. For estate gun safes, we work with the executor and any FFL transfer-agent the family designates. Documentation is created on consent for the estate file.
