OBD-II direct programming
Connect MaxiIM IM608 to vehicle OBD-II port, read immobilizer ID, write new key registration. Standard for most 2010+ vehicles.

Smart key programming registers a new push-start smart key or proximity fob with your vehicle's immobilizer system via OBD-II diagnostics. This is the modern equivalent of the old "cut a key" — but instead of metal, we program a digital handshake between the fob and your car. We use the Autel MaxiIM IM608 Pro platform, the locksmith industry's broadest compatibility tool. Works on most makes 2010 and newer. Some 2018+ BMW, Mercedes, and certain Toyota models are dealer-only — we identify by VIN on the phone before dispatching.
Every job follows a methodology hierarchy — non-destructive first, drilling or replacement only when needed. We default to preservation over destruction.

Some vehicles require reading the immobilizer EEPROM directly. We perform this in-truck.
When NO working key exists, some vehicles need a special procedure. We identify by VIN before dispatch.
For dealer-only vehicles, we coordinate towing and dealer scheduling to minimize customer overhead.
Owner-trained on every major brand. Tell us the make and model on the phone — manufacturer schematic lookup cuts on-site time by ~30%.
Smart key programming starts with the VIN. Provide it on the phone — we run a pre-dispatch check against the IM608 compatibility database and tell you whether the vehicle is locksmith-serviceable or dealer-only. Dispatch from Spring Valley. On arrival the technician verifies registration + ID and connects the MaxiIM IM608 to the OBD-II port. Programming runs 30–60 minutes for most modern vehicles. For all-keys-lost scenarios, the procedure can run 60–180 minutes. New keys are tested fully — start-stop, RKE buttons, panic, trunk release — before we accept payment.
Las Vegas locksmith pricing is too often "quoted on the phone, then changed on the truck." We give a flat-rate quote in writing before any work begins. Below is our standard pricing.

Factors that change time on-site:
Things we wish every Vegas customer knew. Following these saves time, money, and avoids damage.
Send us your VIN on the phone — we verify locksmith-serviceability BEFORE driving out.
Keep your OEM keys safely — losing both keys triggers the more-expensive all-keys-lost procedure.
For aftermarket vs OEM keys: OEM is usually a better long-term investment. Aftermarket can have inconsistent range.
On hybrid vehicles (Prius, etc.), some smart-key procedures require both vehicle power AND 12V battery healthy — check before we arrive.
After programming, test the new key in TEMPERATURE EXTREMES — Vegas summer heat can reveal weak transponder chips that worked fine at 75°F.
Smart key programming requires verified vehicle ownership: registration plus government-issued ID. We do not program keys for unverified callers. For commercial-fleet vehicles, fleet-manager authorization. For rental vehicles, the rental agreement.

Typical $180–$400 plus our $150 service call (waived on jobs over $250). All-keys-lost recovery runs $300–$800 depending on vehicle.
On-site, at your location. The MaxiIM IM608 programmer rides with us.
We tell you BEFORE dispatching. Sometimes the dealer mobile service is cheaper than a tow; sometimes a tow is cheaper. We help you compare.
Transponder keys (1996–2015) have a chip in a metal key. Smart keys (2010+) are full digital fobs with proximity sensors. Programming is different but conceptually similar.
30–60 minutes for standard procedures; 60–180 minutes for all-keys-lost or EEPROM-read.
Some vehicles support customer self-programming with TWO working keys present. Without two working keys, professional programming is required.
